After graduating from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute in 2018, Jessica van Halteren started Mulas Hybrid Haus. With a critical vision on the current fashion industry, Van Halteren wants to show a new vision on fashion. Why do we always work towards the final result? Why can’t we observe the creation itself in a more hybrid way instead? This way we allow ourselves to create with the ingredients we already have instead of constantly consuming new sources.

Georgy Dendoe is the guy behind SUMIBU. SUMIBU is a collective of creative people from Amsterdam that make high quality streetwear. SUMIBU draws inspiration from Japan and street culture. There is a lot of love and time in their designs and they pay extra attention to the experience of wearing the clothes, so a lot of details aren’t discovered until you wear them.

Smibsaland is the clothing brand of Tirino Yspol. Tirino is, just like Georgy, part of SMIB. SMIB is an independent, creative organisation, founded in the Bijlmer. This group of people creates music, art and clothing. Through the means of whatever they create, they want to inspire the young people in their own neighbourhood, but also worldwide and show them that there are endless possibilities. But above all, to do what you like and to look good while doing it.

Jessica, Tirino and Georgy often work together and are joining forces for this project once more. They met Joey Bocciardo. Joey is a boy from the Northside of Amsterdam and works in the atelier De Witte Olifant in Almere where he makes incredible drawings. He creates his own characters and draws his inspiration from Manga and cartoons. Georgy is a big Manga-fan and drawing-fanatic as well. Joey and Georgy have been working on a story together with a series of characters and created an entire world around it.

This world is called New Straccia Town and is about power. There is a dictator and a general in the story, but ofcourse there are also rebels. Riot is coming! The characters in the story wear amazing outfits and Jessica made them in real life. And there are really cool socks. And ceramic swords. And poems from Nancy, who is an artist from De Witte Olifant as well and makes drawings of dolphins and writes beautiful poems. And there are scarfs from flowerprints made by Fenna Miedema, another great artist from De Witte Olifant.
